Sic Parvis Magna

I’ve been going through a bit of a  phrase phase….

I love the sound and conviction conveyed inLatin and Greek phrases. I have spent a ridiculous amount of hours looking up Latin and Greek phrases, then looking up their translations and historical context, turning the phrases and inferences over in my mind.

This week, I’m excited about the Latin phrase ‘Sic Parvis Magna‘. Roughly translated, it means ‘Greatness from Small Beginnings.’

The design pairs this powerful phrase with the perfect visual – a mighty oak tree with two small acorns at its base. It’s such a simple but profound reminder that every giant oak started as a tiny acorn. The tree doesn’t apologize for its humble beginnings or try to hide where it came from. It just grows, slowly and steadily, into something magnificent.

Think about the small things you’re doing right now that might seem insignificant. That conversation you had. That boundary you set. That risk you took. That habit you started. This design reminds us that we don’t need to wait for the perfect moment or the grand gesture. Sometimes greatness begins with something as simple as deciding you’re worth more than you’ve been settling for – just like that acorn deciding to crack open and grow.
