Last of the Feral Children. Generation X.
Gen X kids were largely the last generation where being routinely left home alone to fend for yourself was just… normal. We were wild animals in the neighborhoods, getting into things our parents never knew about. We climbed things we shouldn’t have climbed. We went places we weren’t supposed to go. We figured out consequences the hard way. We were feral in the best possible sense- free-range, resourceful, and genuinely difficult to supervise. And we turned out fine.
For the last generation of genuinely feral children- the ones who roamed without GPS, drank from the hose, and turned out to be perfectly functional adults. Who wears the feral label as the badge of honor it actually is.
